The ASTRA FORTE Candle Care Guide
1. The First Burn Rule: Set the Ritual
The first burn is the most important burn.
To prevent tunneling, let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the jar before extinguishing. This creates a full melt pool and ensures an even burn for the rest of the candle's life.
First burn time guide:
- Small candles: 1.5–2 hours
- Medium candles: 2–3 hours
- Large candles: 3–4 hours

2. Trim the Wick: A Cleaner Flame, A Softer Atmosphere
Before each burn, trim your wick to about 5mm (¼ inch).
A trimmed wick gives you less soot, less smoke, a steadier flame, and a cleaner fragrance experience.

5. How to Fix Tunneling
If your candle tunnels, it can usually be fixed.
Wrap aluminum foil around the top of the candle, leaving a small opening in the center. This traps heat and helps the wax melt evenly across the surface — a method especially effective for soy wax candles.
